Discussion

The ‘Discussion’ section of a project is where all messages are stored and documented.

Everyone involved in a project can add to the discussion, and refer back to messages previously sent and received.

All messages are date and timestamped, and display in chronological order with the newest messages at the top and the oldest at the bottom.

Each message displays with the name of the person who sent it, the business name associated with their user account, as well as the time and date they sent it. This displays the user account time zone, which can be changed manually for users in different time zones.

You’ll also notice that each message has a profile image. Profile images can be added/changed from the Your Details page.

Posting a comment within the project workspace is easy. From the ‘Discussion’ tab, use the simple editor at the top to write your message. 

The simple tools on the top toolbar let you format your text – bold, italic, underline and strikethrough. You can also add bullet-point and numbered lists. 

The ‘Insert/Edit Link’ icon lets you add links using a simple form – or you can actually paste links directly into the message box.

There’s also an option to Insert and Edit Code Samples.

Beneath the text entry box, you’ll notice the ‘Include’ button. This lets you send certain attachments with your message, like files from your computer, video files from YouTube, Vimeo and Wistia, and Satisfaction Ratings.

To add a video file, just select the type of video you’d like to upload… 

To embed a video within your message, you need to enter the video ID, which can be found inside the video URL.

For example, on YouTube, if you hit the ‘Share’ button…

You’ll see the link in the area after the ‘/’ as highlighted below…

You can also opt to start the video at a certain point by ticking the ‘Start at…’ checkbox and entering your desired start point.

Project.co also lets you quickly and easily add and collect satisfaction ratings from your client. To do this, select ‘Satisfaction Rating’ from the ‘Include’ menu in the Discussion tab. 

Select which person you’re requesting feedback for, which group or team they’re in, and then write a short message explaining what the client needs to do. When you’re ready to post the message, hit ‘Ok.’

When posted, the message will display on the Discussion thread with five options, like below. The client will be able to click one of the five options, giving you valuable and actionable feedback at any stage throughout a project.

Any comment that’s posted, as well as appearing on the Discussion thread, will also be sent out by email to everyone who’s part of that project and has email updates turned on.

This means you don’t have to be logged in to send or receive a message through Project.co. People can either click the link in the email to visit the project and reply within Project.co, OR reply directly to the email. This reply will be automatically posted into the system.

It’s important to note that it isn’t possible to upload or download attachments to and from the system through email. If you need to upload, or download, files from the system, you do need to login to the project.
